The Impact of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021

On May 24, 2021, Taco Pope, County Manager and David Jahosky of the Government Services Group discussed with County Commissioners the potential impact of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) on Nassau County. The bill was passed by Congress on March 11, 2021. Nassau County is slated to receive two payments totaling $17.18 million. 50% was received May 2021 and the remaining 50% is expected in twelve months. The five categories for which funds can be used are: • Strategic Infrastructure Investment (things like water, sewer and broadband) • Local Business Incubation • Revenue Stabilization • Assistance to Nonprofits and other Community Organizations • Strategic Investment in the Mitigation of Economic Uncertainty ABPOA will be engaging county officials on whether some of these monies can be used for initiatives on American Beach.
