The American Beach Water & Sewer District was awarded the REDI grant for sewer conversions by the St. Johns River Water Management District Governing Board at their April 11, 2023 meeting.
American Beach was ranked #10 out of 51 submitted projects with an "Excellent" score of 82.
The award of $992,324 is for the abandonment of 147 septic tanks and the construction of the sewer laterals to residences.
At this point, there are several key pieces of work that must be accomplished prior to beginning work on individual sewer connections.
The County, and the FGUA (Florida Governmental Utility Authority) are working closely with the St. Johns River Water Management on next steps which include developing a statement of work, reviewing/approving the Grant Agreement, amongst others.
