Invitation to join AIPCA for Thoughtful Thursday with Jeannie Blaylock of FCN on October 27, 2022

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the AIPCA has invited Jeannie Blaylock of First Coast News to speak at their October 27 Thoughtful Thursday about her 30 years of advocacy.

They have extended an invitation to all American Beach Property Owners to attend this special presentation.

The presentation begins at 11am in the Sunset Room at The Oaks, 203 Sea Marsh.

First Coast News anchor Jeannie Blaylock has been spreading the message of monthly self-breast exams for 30 years with her Buddy Check advocacy. The program includes monthly news segments with Blaylock about finding breast cancer early, as well as free Buddy Check kits that explain how to perform a self-exam.

Doors will open at 11 am followed by Blaylock's presentation and box lunch catered by Beyond Horizons. The lunch includes quiche, mixed green salad and dessert. A vegetarian option will be available and may be requested at event check-in.

Seating will be at tables of six or eight, and the Plantation Ladies Association has generously donated centerpieces to be given away as door prizes at the end of the luncheon. We encourage everyone attending to wear pink, and we'll have Breast Cancer Awareness pins for survivors and caregivers.

Cost is $10 per person. Seating is limited and reservations are required.

In conjunction with this event, the Baptist MD Anderson Center's Buddy Bus will be at The Oaks, to provide 3D screening mammograms using the same insurance authorization process used at its other screening locations. The bus is staffed with board-certified technologists to perform the exams, and dedicated breast radiologists will read the exams.

This is a wonderful opportunity to have this important health exam and AIPCA would like to make it available to as many people as possible.

Many of us delayed getting critical health screenings done during the pandemic. If you have skipped getting a screening mammogram over the last several years, please take advantage of this opportunity to have this life-saving screening done, this Thursday, October 27.

For many women, mammograms are the best way to find breast cancer early, when it is easier to treat and before it is big enough to feel or cause symptoms, so don't delay any longer.

Buddy Bus appointments are available from 8 am to 12 noon October 27. If you also plan to attend the Thoughtful Thursday at 11 am, make sure you schedule your appointment to be completed before that time.

Don't wait any longer to get your mammogram!
