On January 31, 2023, the County will be submitting its application for a REDI grant which will provide the financial support to those members of the community who wish to connect to the new water and sewer lines.
So far only 32% of American Beach property owners have signed and sent in the letter. This only just crosses the 30% threshold for the application to be considered, but is a long way from the level of participation needed to make its approval likely.
They have offered to accept Letters of Intent sent to them by January 25, 2023 to help the community come together and cross the important 50% threshold (and hopefully reach 100% participation).
There is no reason not to send in this letter. Even if you never connect, this will help others who may need the money to do so.
Amy Bell of Nassau County Board of County Commissioners assured the ABPOA that the "Letter of Intent does not obligate you to connect."
This link will take you to the letter and a list of Frequently Asked Questions.
The ABPOA also received approval from the County Manager's Office for the simplified version included here.
Simplified Letter of Intent:
The letters should be printed out, completed, signed, and sent to the County Manager's Office via regular mail or they may be scanned and sent.

Remember, the Letter of Intent does not obligate you to connect, but it will help those members of your community who do.
