Further Update From Nassau County on REDI Grant Commitments

The following email was sent on February 2, 2024 from Amy Bell, Senior Management Analyst at Nassau County.

Good morning,

As a follow up to my email from January 11th, and conversations with American Beach residents, I wanted to send a reminder about the REDI Grant program and clarify some questions we have received.

  • The St. Johns River Water Management District REDI Grant Program could cover up to $6,750.50, per residential unit, for the sewer line installation from the right-of-way to your home and the abandonment of your septic tank.

  • A minimum of 79 property owners are needed to commit to sewer installation/septic abandonment by St. Johns River Water Management District to receive grant funding for sewer connection costs.

  • Only property owners with existing septic tanks (with or without a structure) qualify for the REDI Grant.

  • Properties currently under construction or future construction projects do not qualify unless there is a septic tank existing on the property.

  • If the minimum of 79 Property Owners do not sign up for the REDI Grant, funds will not be available.

  • REDI Grant submissions are due by February 16, 2024.  Funds may not be available for your parcel if you decide after the due date to submit your information.

WHAT DO PROPERTY OWNERS NEED TO DO IF INTERESTED IN QUALIFYING FOR THE REDI GRANT?

STEP 1, NASSAU AMELIA UTILITIES:

  1. Arrange payment or set up a payment plan with Nassau Amelia Utilities (NAU) for NAU wastewater impact fees and other associated fees not covered by the REDI Grant, total amount of $1,718, and complete NAU New Service Application.

  • $1,718 is comprised of: Wastewater Impact Fees = $1,548, Initial Connection Fee = $70, Sewer Deposit = $100

  • Payment plans can be arranged for a period of 6-10 months, with payments beginning March 2024.

  • NAU can be reached at (904) 530-6030 or in-person at 5185 S Fletcher Ave, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034

STEP 2, COUNTY MANAGER'S OFFICE:

      2. Review and Complete the Non-Revocable Letter of Commitment (Documents attached to this email)

      3. Review and Complete the License Agreement for Temporary Access (Documents attached to this email)

      4. Deliver in-person or mail your completed REDI Grant packet to the County Managers Office, located at 96135 Nassau Place, Suite 1, Yulee, FL 32097

  • REDI Grant Packet includes:

  • Receipt from Nassau Amelia Utilities

  • Non-Revocable Letter of Commitment

  • License Agreement for Temporary Access

All REDI Grant submissions must be received in-person or postmarked by February 16, 2024.

Please note, should the County no longer qualify for the REDI Grant based on less than 79 property owners not committing to the septic to sewer conversion project, then the Non-Revocable Letter of Commitment and the License Agreement for Temporary Access shall become null and void.  If the REDI grant is not received, then at the Property Owner’s discretion, they may request refund of the sewer capacity charges of $1,548, deposit of $100, and initial connection fee of $70.  Following such a refund, if the property is connected to sewer system in the future, they will be subject to such fees and charges in place at that time.

Our office is available to you for assistance related to the REDI Grant either by phone or in-person, Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.  Please feel free to reach out to us at (904) 530-6010, option 1, or visit us at 96135 Nassau Place, Suite 1, Yulee, FL 32097.

Thank you,

Amy
