American Beach Property Owners Association
(ABPOA)
Welcome to ABPOA, the official on-line home of the American Beach
Property Owners Association. ABPOA is a community-based
organization with a broad scope of duties benefiting our members and the
property owners of American Beach. We focus mainly on securing community services, preservation of the beaches and dunes of American Beach, and to preserve a part of our heritage through the construction of a
museum and community center.
Working with The Trust
for Public Land we helped coordinate the purchase of the beachfront Rendezvous Restaurant on
behalf of Nassau County to eventually be renovated into a community center. And thanks to the tireless efforts of local activist
MaVynee Betsch (who died in 2005) and the generosity of the Amelia Island
Plantation Company, the National Park Service was given an 8.5-acre
pristine sand dune called NaNa at the center of our community. This land is now
part of the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve.
American Beach was placed on The National Register of Historic Places in January 2002.
We
have developed this site to share our progress, news, history and to promote our
organization, its mission and our exciting events to our members, neighbors and
friends.
ABPOA is governed by a 13-member Board of Directors that includes a presindent, vice president, secretary and treasurer. Here are our Board Members
We strongly encourage all property owners to join ABPOA to have your voice heard. Your annual dues help us perserve the rich cultural legacy of American Beach. Click here to print out a submission form.
